Aegis Independent Ales won the Lynchpin  Battle of the Brews two years in a row and as they grew they needed more of an identity.

In ancient Greek mythology, Aegis was a shield that Zeus gifted to Athena. It was often depicted with having the head of Medusa on it, so this gave me a lot of really fun imagery to work with.
